Last updated: 22 May 2026

Welcome to weptt.org, the website of The Wildlife and Environmental Protection of Trinidad and Tobago ("WEPTT", "we", "us", "our"). These terms govern your use of this website. By accessing or using weptt.org, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

1. About this website

weptt.org is an informational resource about the wildlife, flora, fauna, and natural environment of Trinidad and Tobago. We share publicly sourced information to help people find what they need. WEPTT operates this site on a non-commercial basis. We receive no financial benefit from its use.

2. We do not represent our partners

We reference organisations, NGOs, government agencies, researchers, and other entities throughout this site. WEPTT is not affiliated with them unless we expressly say so. We do not act on their behalf. We do not speak for them. The information we share about these organisations is drawn from publicly available sources. Any views expressed on this site are our own.

3. Information accuracy

We make a best effort to verify the information we publish. We cannot guarantee that every detail is current, complete, or correct. Information about wildlife, locations, regulations, organisations, and contact details changes over time. WEPTT is not responsible for outdated, inaccurate, or incomplete information on this site. You use the information at your own discretion.

4. Wildlife safety

Do not handle, approach, capture, feed, or otherwise interfere with any wildlife you encounter. Observe from a safe distance. Some species are protected by law. Some are dangerous. Some are both. If you find an injured or distressed animal, contact the appropriate wildlife authority or rescue organisation rather than intervening yourself. You are responsible for your own safety and for the welfare of any animal you encounter.

5. Not legal advice

Nothing on weptt.org constitutes legal advice. WEPTT is not a legal authority. References to laws, regulations, permits, protected species, or enforcement procedures are for general information only. Consult a qualified legal professional or the relevant government authority for advice on your specific situation.

6. Environmentally sensitive areas and prohibited areas

Many natural areas in Trinidad and Tobago are environmentally sensitive, legally protected, or restricted. Access to forest reserves, prohibited areas, wildlife sanctuaries, game sanctuaries, and other protected sites is regulated by the Forestry Division and other competent authorities. For access, permits, regulations, or detailed information about these areas, contact the Forestry Division or the relevant authority directly.

Nothing on weptt.org entitles you to enter any protected, restricted, or prohibited area for tourism, research, photography, or any other purpose. The presence of information about a location on this site is not permission to visit it. You must obtain proper authorisation before entering any area that requires it. Never venture into prohibited or restricted areas without written permission from the appropriate authority. You are solely responsible for confirming the legal status of any area you intend to visit and for securing the necessary permits.

7. Contact form and sighting reports

You may use our contact form to report wildlife sightings or send us other messages. By submitting information through the form you confirm that the information is accurate to the best of your knowledge and that you have the right to share it. WEPTT may use sighting reports to improve the information we share or pass them to relevant organisations. Do not send us confidential information, personal data about third parties, or anything you are not entitled to share.

8. External links

We link to external websites for your convenience. WEPTT does not control those sites and is not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability, or practices. A link is not an endorsement.

9. Intellectual property

The content WEPTT creates for this site is protected by copyright. You may view and share content for personal, educational, and non-commercial purposes with attribution to weptt.org. For any other use, contact us. Where we display content sourced from third parties, the rights remain with the original creators.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, WEPTT is not liable for any loss, injury, damage, or harm arising from your use of weptt.org, your reliance on its content, or your interactions with wildlife, locations, or organisations referenced on it. The site is provided on an "as is" basis without warranties of any kind.

11. Changes to these terms

WEPTT may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the site after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms. The "Last updated" date at the top tells you when the terms last changed.
